Forget overly manicured or generic locations. Breckinridge Park offers diverse and natural beauty that lends itself perfectly to engagement, family, and senior portrait sessions.
What makes Breckinridge Park stand out
Breckinridge Park in Richardson is one of those locations that rewards photographers who know it well. At over 400 acres, it's one of the largest parks in Collin County — with creek beds, open meadows, wooded trails, and even a small lake that gives us an enormous range of visual options.
Unlike more manicured parks that look the same as dozens of others across DFW, Breckinridge has a natural, slightly wild quality that produces authentic-looking images. Clients often tell us their Breckinridge gallery looks like it was shot in the Hill Country rather than suburban Dallas.
Best areas within the park
- The creek and wooded trail areas — dappled, soft light and earthy tones
- Open meadow sections — wide, airy shots with beautiful sky
- The lake area — water reflections and dramatic backdrops
- The rocky creek bed — natural texture that photographs beautifully
When to visit
Late afternoon and golden hour are ideal. The tree canopy in the wooded sections keeps harsh midday light soft enough to shoot through, but the golden hour glow through the trees is truly special. Fall is our favorite season here — the warm tones are gorgeous.
