Dallas's most beautiful outdoor photography location

White Rock Lake is 1,200 acres of parkland right inside the Dallas city limits — and it's one of our absolute favorite locations for portrait photography. The combination of open lakefront, dense wooded areas, wildflower meadows, the Bath House Cultural Center, and that famous Dallas golden hour light makes it endlessly photogenic in every season.

We've shot every session type at White Rock — newborn lifestyle sessions in the wooded areas, lakefront engagement sessions at sunset, family sessions in the meadows, and maternity portraits among the wildflowers in spring. It consistently delivers some of our most stunning work.

Must-shoot spots at White Rock Lake

  • The west-facing shoreline at sunset — the light on the water is extraordinary
  • The Bath House Cultural Center — historic stone architecture right on the water
  • The wooded trails — dappled natural light and earthy, rich tones
  • The spillway area — dramatic water feature and stone architecture
  • The wildflower meadows in spring — fields of color that change week by week
  • The White Rock Creek trail entrance — wooded and intimate

Practical information

White Rock Lake is a Dallas city park — free and open to the public. Parking is available at multiple points around the lake. The park is popular, so we recommend arriving early for morning sessions or sticking to weekdays for evening sessions to avoid crowds at peak times. The park spans several miles so knowing exactly where to go is important — we scout every session in advance.
